Singularity and plurality of discourse reference to worlds

The referential analysis of conditionals has recently been put forth as an alternative the Kratzer-style restrictor (Schein 2001, Schlenker 2004, among others). Under this analysis, conditional antecedents are definite descriptions worlds/situations. This paper explores a widely accepted assumption namely that refer to plural objects. I show singularity/plurality can correlate with whether expresses modal or adverbial quantification. use correlation motivate where number-neutral by default, but be forced denote singular referents. idea is formally implemented within dynamic framework Brasoveanu (2010).
